On Yourself
What does self-discovery mean to you?

Self-discovery is the most fun, constant journey for me. It starts with gazing at yourself in the mirror as a young girl and later in life it’s reflecting in all kinds of ways. Considering behavioral and emotional patterns, your reasons for doing things, ways that you react and respond to outside influence, and then making choices about the energy that you want to put forth. It’s self-analysis and for me, being open to and trying new things, seeking balance, investigating feelings. Self-discovery is looking backwards and forwards from a place of love and with optimism, being present in the now; it’s honesty, forgiveness and tenderness.

Can you describe your relationship to your sexuality?

She’s my oldest and dearest best friend.

On Sexuality
How do you give yourself pleasure?

I’m a pleasure seeker in so many ways and I love activation/stimulation of the senses. Perfume, silk, softness, taste, intoxication, music, poetry, mental titillation. I lean toward overindulgence because I love straightforward forms of pleasure. But maybe more than pleasure alone, I enjoy depth of sensation – the high highs and the low lows, chaos or calm. Pleasure can come from external sources but the best kind, for me, happens internally, behind closed eyes, in the recesses of the mind.

How do you ask for what you want?

“It's not easy; I guess you just have to be brave.”

On Womankind

What advice would you have for women early in their self-discovery?

Focus on tapping into your true feelings and intuition – they’ll never lead you astray.

In terms of pleasure, what do you think women don’t talk about enough?

Anything outside of what’s socially acceptable or conventional.
