On Yourself
What does self-discovery mean to you?

Self-discovery is something I am constantly experiencing. I evolve as the world around me evolves and my priorities change as my life changes. I am more conscious of who I am and want to become and that has made me more aware of how I spend my time and the experiences and people I seek.

Can you describe your relationship to your sexuality?

As I have gotten older, my sexuality is something I have grown more and more comfortable with. As an Asian American woman, sexuality was never discussed. It will be a priority for me to discuss this with my daughters openly, so they know that they can come to me as they begin to experience feelings around attraction - whether it is physical or emotional.

On Womankind
What’s your favorite part about being a woman?

I am fascinated by the beauty of our form - physical and mental. And for me, becoming a mother has heightened my admiration for what our bodies can endure and achieve.

What advice would you have for women in their self discovery?

I think it is important to find someone you trust to be able to talk about your journey. In my early years, no one ever told me that my sexuality was an important part of self-discovery and i think it is easy to develop unrealistic and unhealthy ways in which you need to act. So I hope that as we talk more openly about this topic, we can make sure that our sexual health is addressed as much as our mental and physical health because I believe they are all related.

In terms of pleasure, what do you think women don’t talk about enough?

No one ever told me that my sexuality was an important part of self-discovery so I hope that our sexual health is addressed as much as our mental and physical health.
